After being quiet for a while after last years European tour, we have now worked in a new guitarist (Brendan O’neil from the thrash band Pestilence Choir) to round us out as a 4 piece once again and have been busy writing new material. We have decided to take a pause from writing to get out on the road to do a very short tour run around the Northeast accompanied by our metal maniac mates in Colossus (Raleigh, NC). We have relatively exciting news (at least to us that is) to announce in the near future…let’s just say 2017 is looking bright.
Hope to see you there!!
Italian heavy rockers Isaak will launch a European tour on Feb. 13 in support of their new full-length, Sermonize (review here). That record came out on vinyl through Heavy Psych Sounds back in November and has a CD due shortly (like this week) on Small Stone, and finds the four-piece nailing down thick heavy rock roll and a vibrant energy that has come to be their defining element. This will be, as I recall, their first Euro tour for the album, and they go having recently brought aboard Gabriele Carta as their new bassist.
If you haven’t heard it, the album was streamed in full here when it was reviewed, so I’ve got that player below if you’d like to dig in. Other info and tour dates follow from the PR wire and the social medias:
***ISAAK*** Tropical Disease European Tour
Born from the ashes of Italian heavy rock four-piece Gandhi’s Gunn, it didn’t take long before ISAAK signed a worldwide deal on US label Small Stone Records, who reissued their ass-kicking debut “The Longer The Beard The Harder The Sound” in June 2013. Inspired by the big ass riffages and raw energy of leading heavy rock outfits such as Clutch, Orange Goblin or Torche, ISAAK have the knack for assembling the heaviest-sounding licks with a rip-roaring attitude that can only make you raise a fist up in the air while rocking out in the pit.
With a freshly signed deal on Heavy Psych Sounds Records, ISAAK released their sophomore album “Sermonize” on vinyl this past November, which will be followed by a CD release on February 6th via Small Stone Records.
Ready to bring their Heavy Rockness all around Europe.

Are you ready?
Ohio riff dealers, LO-PAN, will take to the streets next month on a near two-week Northeastern run of live dates. Kicking off on March 12th in Detroit, Michigan at Berserker II alongside Poison Idea, Iron Reagan, Incantation, Full Of Hell and many others, the NxNe Tour 2015 will trounce eleven cities, coming to a close on March 22nd in Columbus, Ohio. The band will be joined by Detroit rockers, Against The Grain. From there LO-PAN will take a short breather before crossing the Atlantic for a European expedition that will see the band level the stage of Roadburn, Desert Fest, Asymmetry Fest and more with psyche peddlers, Abrahma, and psychedelic war metallers, Black Pyramid, sharing the stage on select dates.
LO-PAN will be touring in support of their critically heralded Colossus long player, released last Fall via Small Stone. Produced and engineered by Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Rosetta, East Of The Wall et al) at his own Translator Audio Studio in Brooklyn, New York and named for an ancient statue of the Greek titan-god of the sun, Helios, the record continues to raise the eyebrows of fans and media globally.
Sputnik Music dubs Colossus, “an essential heavy rock album,” further enthusing, “The ultra-heavy fourth album of Columbus luminaries LO-PAN certainly lives up to its title, bludgeoning the listener with a cavalcade of gargantuan riffs from the ground up… the quartet tread a fine line between the technicality of Tool and the sheer riff-power of Swedish stoner rock heavyweights Dozer, while succumbing to both bands’ penchant for infectious motifs.” Verbicide opined, “Not only do they bring the rock to the world of stoner rock, they are also master craftsmen, knowing how to write classic-sounding tunes,” while Hellride notes, “Like the real-life manifestations of the album’s title, LO-PAN are giants walking the earth and Colossus will leave a heavy footprint in the mind of anyone who hears it. Rarely will getting stepped on sound so good.” Elsewhere the feelings ricochet. The Sleeping Shaman calls Colossus, “a fantastic album,” asserting, “if you’re into powerful, driving, stoner influenced heavy rock that is big on riffs and melodies and gut punching grooves then this album will thrill you,” Rockandrollfables.com gushes, “If Torche and Roadsaw had a baby, the resulting bouncing baby boy would be Ohio’s LO-PAN. Take those sludgy riffs and clean vocals that bring to mind Roadsaw’s Craig Riggs and you have the recipe for something great…a monumentally monolithic masterpiece from start to finish,” while The Obelisk notes, “…where their last full-length, 2011′s Salvador, was a pinnacle for their songwriting’s blend of fluid groove, soulful vocals and memorable tracks, Colossus reaps the reward of all their touring in pushing LO-PAN‘s methods even further. So it’s a meaner, more precise LO-PAN this time around.”

Hot off the release of their fourth album, Colossus (review here), Ohio fuzz rockers Lo-Pan have been announced as taking part in Desertfest Berlin 2015. The announcement follows a recent schism/split with guitarist Brian Fristoe, and since Lo-Pan are also slated to play Roadburn and have shows booked before then and will be touring Europe as well, one can’t help but wonder who’ll be handling guitar for them going forward. No word has come out yet in that regard, but I’ll let you know when I hear what’s up.
In the meantime, good for the band — who killed when they came through recently with Black Cobra – for getting over to Europe. Feels a little overdue for how hard they’ve slogged it out in the States, but better late than never, and I’m sure they’ll find open arms waiting for them at Desertfest, Roadburn and wherever else they might wind up.

Two-in-one news: first, we are pleased to tell you that fuzz rockers Lo-Pan join the SOL family and will be touring in April! Then, we are proud to add them to our DesertFest Berlin line-up! Stay tuned for more news!
We stoked to announce that fuzz rockers Lo-Pan are now confirmed to kick a good deal of ass at Desertfest Berlin 2015!
With “Colossus”, LO-PAN’s last album – released about a month ago on Small Stone Records – the Columbus’ four-piece have moved beyond their influences and arrived at their own sound – a “style built on aggression without caricature, fuzz without cliché, melody without redundancy and their meanest groove to date.” (The Obelisk)
