Album Info

Having already shared stages with labelmates in Abrahma and Lo-Pan, as well as Turbonegro, Nick Oliveri and many others, Italian heavy rockers Them Bulls will release their debut full length, Them Bulls, on Small Stone Records later this Summer.

In just over two years since forming early in 2014, Them Bulls have refined their approach to their unique desert-style fuzz of their initial EP called Space Cadillacs, and have now brought their game to a new level entirely. Executed with melodic precision but a loose feel, the songs like “Pot Gun” and “Bandana, Carlos” nod at the poppy bounce of peak-era Queens of the Stone Age, while “Too Much Hot” offers an attitude all the band’s own and “We Must Live Up” drives the point home with rare emphasis for a band who are still so
relatively new.

Marking the debut with the band of second guitarist/backing vocalist Francesco Maria Pasi alongside founding vocalist/ guitarist Daniele Pollio, drummer Giampaolo Farnedi (Mondo Generator, Brant Bjork and the Bros.) and bassist Paolo Baldini, Them Bulls was recorded and mixed by Mattia Dallara at Deposito Zero Studio in April and mastered by Mathias Schneeberger. Them Bulls will be hitting many a stage in support of this release.

For fans of: Deville, Queens Of The Stone Age, Lo-Pan, and many more.

LO-PAN announce US + European Tour Dates In Support Of “Colossus”

Ohio riff dealers, LO-PAN, will take to the streets next month on a near two-week Northeastern run of live dates. Kicking off on March 12th in Detroit, Michigan at Berserker II alongside Poison Idea, Iron Reagan, Incantation, Full Of Hell and many others, the NxNe Tour 2015 will trounce eleven cities, coming to a close on March 22nd in Columbus, Ohio. The band will be joined by Detroit rockers, Against The Grain. From there LO-PAN will take a short breather before crossing the Atlantic for a European expedition that will see the band level the stage of Roadburn, Desert Fest, Asymmetry Fest and more with psyche peddlers, Abrahma, and psychedelic war metallers, Black Pyramid, sharing the stage on select dates.

LO-PAN will be touring in support of their critically heralded Colossus long player, released last Fall via Small Stone. Produced and engineered by Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Rosetta, East Of The Wall et al) at his own Translator Audio Studio in Brooklyn, New York and named for an ancient statue of the Greek titan-god of the sun, Helios, the record continues to raise the eyebrows of fans and media globally.

Sputnik Music dubs Colossus, “an essential heavy rock album,” further enthusing, “The ultra-heavy fourth album of Columbus luminaries LO-PAN certainly lives up to its title, bludgeoning the listener with a cavalcade of gargantuan riffs from the ground up… the quartet tread a fine line between the technicality of Tool and the sheer riff-power of Swedish stoner rock heavyweights Dozer, while succumbing to both bands’ penchant for infectious motifs.” Verbicide opined, “Not only do they bring the rock to the world of stoner rock, they are also master craftsmen, knowing how to write classic-sounding tunes,” while Hellride notes, “Like the real-life manifestations of the album’s title, LO-PAN are giants walking the earth and Colossus will leave a heavy footprint in the mind of anyone who hears it. Rarely will getting stepped on sound so good.” Elsewhere the feelings ricochet. The Sleeping Shaman calls Colossus, “a fantastic album,” asserting, “if you’re into powerful, driving, stoner influenced heavy rock that is big on riffs and melodies and gut punching grooves then this album will thrill you,” Rockandrollfables.com gushes, “If Torche and Roadsaw had a baby, the resulting bouncing baby boy would be Ohio’s LO-PAN. Take those sludgy riffs and clean vocals that bring to mind Roadsaw’s Craig Riggs and you have the recipe for something great…a monumentally monolithic masterpiece from start to finish,” while The Obelisk notes, “…where their last full-length, 2011′s Salvador, was a pinnacle for their songwriting’s blend of fluid groove, soulful vocals and memorable tracks, Colossus reaps the reward of all their touring in pushing LO-PAN‘s methods even further. So it’s a meaner, more precise LO-PAN this time around.”

ALBUM INFO

Some dudes just sound like they were born to do it, and listening to the classic heavy rock groove of The Socks, there can be no doubt it’s what they’re made for. They’re naturals. The double-guitar French foursome formed in Lyon in 2009 and started surprising audiences almost immediately, eventually settling down to pump out their debut EP the following year.

2010’s Side A was five songs well concentrated from a band still feeling out where they wanted to go. You had your Sabbath, your Zeppelin, and The Socks supported the release by playing with an array of national and international acts, busting out energetic, intense gigs while continuing to develop their style. The next two years drove the band to write darker songs, hit harder, become thicker, more powerful, more calculating and less frenetic.

The resulting 2012 EP, Bedrock, soon caught Small Stone Records’ eye, with strong instrumental performances from Jess (drums), Vincent (bass), Nico (guitar/keys/vocals) and Julien (vocals/guitar), the latter also serving as the frontman and delivering a guttural but memorable vocal performance throughout the tracks, psychedelic in some places and elsewhere delving into a neo-grunge moodiness that was a change from the first release. During Fall 2012, The Socks completed their first European tour, drawing on experience garnered from festivals and gigs alongside Karma to Burn, Red Fang, Truckfighters, Horisont, Mars Red Sky, Black Rainbows and many others with whom they share some elements while still maintaining a personality of their own.

Simply put, they were a hit. Small Stone picked up the band and is set to issue their first full-length in 2014, as the band continue to thrust themselves into Europe’s next generation of heavy rock and roll alongside acts like Abrahma, Deville, Asteroid, Isaak, Black Rainbows and Mother of God. Look for The Socks to continue their momentum into 2013 and beyond, in the studio and on the road, and expect nothing less than some of the finest riffs the continent has to offer. That’s how it goes when you deal with naturals.
